Yamaha Entertainment Group Founder/ VP Receives Music Composer/ Arranger Award For “The Gift”
NASHVILLE, Tenn. February 28, 2016 – Yamaha Entertainment Group of America is thrilled to announce founder and vice president, Chris Gero, received a Midsouth Regional Emmy Award for “The Gift” under the Music Composer/ Arranger category.
On Saturday evening, distinguished awards were presented by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) at the 30th annual gala event, which brought together esteemed members of the television and film community across Tennessee, North Carolina and Alabama. The ceremony took place at the iconic Country Music Hall of Fame & Museum in Nashville, Tennessee and was broadcasted through a live videostream online.
Gero received an Emmy Award on his first ever nomination for his music composition/ arrangement in “The Gift.” The critically acclaimed short film follows the journey of a single guitar over the course of four decades and three familial generations. Complemented by a specially commissioned symphonic piece of music by the Nashville Recording Orchestra, “The Gift” connects Yamaha instruments with music lovers from around the world. Gero wrote, scored, produced and directed the short film, which debuted on Yamaha Corporation of America’s Facebook page. The underlying nostalgic tones of the video encourage giving the gift of music. The piece was filmed locally across Nashville and Franklin, Tennessee over the course of seven days in January 2015.
Including the Emmy award, “The Gift” has received an astounding 43 awards since its release.
“This Emmy is a nod to all of those who make music happen everyday,” said Gero. “It is an honor to receive this award for a film that is so close to my heart and aligns so closely with my belief that music connects us and brings us together as a community. Thank you to NATAS for recognizing this special film.”
